April 2023   Newsletter

Hi all,

I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy Easter, and to let you know the school will be open all over Easter as normal, so look forward to seeing you, if you not on holiday or busy. We also have a very busy couple of months planned – hopefully, something for everyone:-

BLACKPOOL 6-9TH OCTOBER 2023 – Although this seems a long way off it is a very busy weekend in Blackpool and bookings need to be made AS.A.P The Gresham Comfort Inn – which is only one road away from the Winter Gardens can accommodate us at the moment. I would like to make the booking by next Monday (10th April) so please contact me over the weekend or before. Cannot promise a room at this guest house after April 10th, but if undecided I may be able to do provisional booking.

Prices: Per room for 3 nights B&B

Single: £177.30, Double: £231.00 Triple: £271.00 Family sleeps 4 £285.30

I am attaching booking form which I would appreciate returned with booking fee asap.

Next Ballroom and Latin Social evening Friday 21st, April 8.30- 11pm £10.00 If you would like to make this a dinner dance please let me know and I will book a local restaurant at about 6pm.

The new Sequence class on Tuesday at 8.30 has started but you are welcome to join it still – there are also places, on all classes, so from beginners to advance – if you haven’t been for a while there are plenty of opportunities to restart. Don’t be shy – give me a ring. Alternatively one to one lessons are available to give you confidence to join a class.

I have been asked for a ballroom and latin class during the day. So I am starting Thursday, April 27th 1-2pm – if you would like to come along please let me know. I am happy to accommodate beginners and intermediate dancers, and can work out class times according to interest and support. Please spread the word.

I am also pleased to be able to announce a brand new Toddler class starting Friday May 5th, 10-11am £5.00 – pay as you go. It will be called the |Little Sisters and Misters Club. Meghan will be taking this class and already runs children’s parties in the area, so she is experienced with toddlers, and I’m sure this will be a fun class – please spread the word.

SS9 next Blues night is scheduled for Friday May 5th. Doors open 8pm tickets £10.00. Ryan is expecting this to be a sell out – the band is excellent: Martin McNeil and the Bottle Neck Blues, featuring West Weston, who is in the same league as Wilco Johnson. They will be playing two sets, an hour each, so this will be a fantastic evening and extremely good value for money.

Fish and Chip Supper Dance Saturday May 20th – £20.00 to include fish and chips.

July 2nd – Competition day, arrangements being made now for partners and routines, please let me know if you haven’t already, and you would like to go. This will now be held at Runneymede

July 9th – Torquay Holiday a few rooms left – fantastic value 7 nights half board – with dance instruction £440.00 per person.

So plenty going on – see you soon. Happy Easter – Carole

August Newsletter

Hi, How are you? I hope you are all well. What a strange world we are living in. It seems to be getting stranger, whereas I was hoping to be getting back to near normal by Christmas, that now seems extremely unlikely.

I fully understand those of you that still feel unable to exercise indoors, or be part of a group, however, I would appreciate your help in keeping the studio open, from your home, you can do this several ways:

1: By putting a good review on google business, or the web site, or yell.com for either the use of the venue for hire, or for dance lessons. This will improve my advertising on google.

2: If you could spread the word, the venue is available for hire, for conference meetings – perhaps your company is working from home but would like to meet as a group ocoasisonally, or you have a friend that might need it.

3: Please share the posters, advertising new classes on facebook as much as possible, and spread the word generally, we are open and available for new ideas for hiring.

4: Small parties are possible, maximum group of 30 people, social distancing, no dancing – but can offer clean and hygienic surroundings, and no mess to clear up at the end of an evening.

I have now purchased a machine that purifies the air and you will be pleased to know that it should be in use by next week. We will then be able to use the air-con.

I have now been told that we can not dance around the floor in groups – so we are not allowed to do ballroom practise on a class. However, I can go over steps, technique and teach new steps, as long as we stay fairly stationery. To this end the Studio will be available on a Thursday evening, when you can hire it, for half hour sessions for £10.00. £5.00 each. If you wish to book these sessions, please let me know they will be on a first come first serve basis. If this proves popular more sessions will be made available.

At the moment we have Toddler, Children’s, Adults Beginners and Intermediate classes running.

Should you wish to attend any class please let me know.

New for September:

Adult Beginners – Commencing 6th Sept. Sunday 4-5pm or 7.30-8.30pm

Commencing 8th Sept. Tuesday 8.30-9.30 Beginners/ or intermediates

Adult Solo Fun class – will include Ballroom, Latin and disco in Line. All very easy – Exercise and enjoy the music – Commencing Thursday September 10th, 10-11am.

All Adult classes £28.00 per month. Must be pre-booked.

Also for those that feel are unable to attend the studio – Online lessons are available £5.00 for half hour. These can be booked easily on zoom, if you haven’t tried it yet – it’s not as daunting as it seems.

Dates for your Diary:

Saturday,August 29th 7.30pm – 10pm Fish and chip supper £10.00

Socially distanced, all guidelines being followed, come along and join us for a safe catch up.

September 20th – Herne Bay on line competition. I have been reluctant, but think we have to embrace this method of competing for the time being – this competition is geared up for the beginner/intermediate levels and would be a good one to try. Let me know if interested.

Friday September 25th McMillan Coffee morning. Cakes and help required. Will be socially distanced, so afraid you will have to book – this year. If a group of you would like to attend at the same time that would be possible to book a group session.

November – Exams, date to be announced – this will be on line too.

Thanking you for your support and patience. Looking forward to seeing you soon Carole.
